FAQ


Q.  Do you allow pets?
Only in specific cabins as noted in the brochure rate sheet and on the website. A $250 pet fee per pet is charged. Pet owners are responsible for any damage/additional cleaning as the result of the pet. Pets must be on leashes around resort grounds.

Q.  Do you have a bar?

We do not have a liquor license. There is a Bar/Grill open at Wolf Bay Lodge located a half block from the resort. We do have a Bar area overlooking the lake in the lodge where guests can bring in their own beverages of choice.

Q. Is the resort open year-round

Yes, we keep some of the cabins open year-round to accommodate snowmobiler.

Q. Do you have a Laundry facilities?

Yes, we have a central laundry with coin operated washers and dryers.

Q. What is your check in/check out time?

Standard check in time is 5 pm…check out time is 8 am. We can adjust that time within a few hours with advanced request and contingent on number of people requesting.

Q. Are there groceries stores near the resort?

The closest groceries stores are in the town of Cook which is 20 miles from the resort. We recommend you purchase your groceries prior to arrival. We do sell in our general store bread, ice cream, milk, butter, eggs and soda.

Q. Do you sell liquor at the resort? Where is the closest place to purchase liquor?
We do not sell liquor. There is a Bar/Grill within a half block of the resort.

Q. What do we need for the cabin?
The only things you will need to bring is personal soaps, beach towels, and charcoal for the grill.

Q. linens and towels...What does the resort provide?
We provide linens and towels in the cabins…we provide a set towels for each person..and for weekly stays we do a towel exchange on wednesdays.

Q. Do you allow Jet skis?
We do allow them..but ask the guests to observe the no wake rules within a 1/4mile of the resort. We see very few Jet skisOn Vermilion. There is one Marina that rents Jet Skis.

Q. Do you have fishing guides?
We have several fishing guides that we use for our guests and recommend. we can arrange guide dates upon request.

Q. Do you have a restaurant at the resort?
We offer American plan meals served in the lodge for a minimum of four persons. The meal plans are prearranged with set menus.

Q. Does the resort charge guests for dock space if they bring their own boat?
No we do not charge for dock space. If a customer wants a covered boat slip ( we have a limited number) we do charge a fee.

Q. Do all the cabins have private docks?
No there is a variety of docks throughout the resort. All the docks have access to electrical hookups.All the docks are considered shared by all the resort guests. We have enough dock space that ensures everyone has a good place to park.  The main dock is 200 ft in length with slips down both sides and can hold up to 30 boats.

Q. Rental boats…what do we need to bring?
If you have a Personal Flotation Device that fits and works well for you then bring it, ( especially for small children) if not, we have a variety of life jackets in a variety of sizes for you to use at no charge. The boats are totally equipped ( nets, anchors ,life jackets, depth finders, etc)

Q. Is the pool heated?
Yes the pool is heated and for safety reasons we do not use a heat cover at night ..so on rare evenings during summer if the outside temperature drops below normal ranges it will drop the pool temperatures. It usually takes a few hours to recover. The pool heater and filter system runs from the first weekend in June through Labor Day and never is shutdown unless for maintenance.

Q . Is the pool staffed with a life guard?
No, children are required to have an adult present. There is no diving or running around the pool area allowed.

Q. Do you have an area to park my boat trailer.
Yes, we have a large parking lot dedicated for boat trailer parking.

Q. Do we have to remove our fishing equipment from the boats at night?
We have never had a problem with theft but we recommend our guests lock up their belongings in the boats or carry them back to the cabin if they are uncomfortable.

Q . Do you sell gas, bait and licenses at the resort ?
Yes, we sell Gas on the dock, Bait, tackle, and fishing licenses.

Q. Do you have a fish cleaning facility?
Yes we have fish cleaning building…our staff will clean and package fish for you or you are welcome to use the facilities.

Q. Does the resort accept credit cards?
Yes, we accept every major credit card with the exception of American Express.

Q. Can we pay our balance by check?
Check or cash is our preferred method of payment.

Q. If you want to rebook the same week the following year can we do that upon departure?
Yes, as a policy we provide folks at check out an opportunity to rebook the same period /cabin for the next year first before accepting any other reservations.  If that party wants to leave their deposit for next year at the time of check out..they will be guaranteed the same rate for next year.

Q. Are there hiking trails near the resort ?
The area around the resort is very rural. The roads around the resort are great for walking.

Q. Does the cabin have phones or T.Vs ?
No, the Lodge is equipped with Satellite T.V. and a pay phone.

Q. Does the resort have wireless internet available?
Yes, in the Lodge we have high speed wireless available. There are tables set up in the Lodge where guests can set up their lap tops.

Q. Does the resort have a fax machine?
Yes, we have a fax in the lodge office that guests can use.

Q. Does Vermilion have a slot size for walleye and other species?
Yes, We have had a slot requirement on the walleye for two years and five years for the Northern. The slot program has been a great success. We are seeing many Northern Pike being caught from 36-40 inch range. The walleye slot has only been in effect for two years but already we are seeing a lot of walleyes in the 19-20 inch range.
